The annual convention of the Virginia Organization of German Students (VOGS) took place at Maggie L. Walker Governor’s School on February 26-27, 2010. The theme of the convention was “Einigkeit” or unity.
The event was organized by the co-presidents of the German Club, Kelsie Taylor ’10 and Logan Ferrell ’11, and their sponsor, Frau Dawn Grois.
Twenty three high schools and middle schools from across Virginia participated in a variety of workshops and competitions, such as the Battle of the Brains and forensics. Most of the twenty-five workshops were conducted by MLWGS students, teachers, and parents.
In addition to the 250 + students and teachers, eleven Governor's School alumni attended the Saturday session: Chris Highley, ’97, Arrus Farmer ’99, Jackie Kruszewski, ’02, Philip O’Brien ’02, Adam Snodgrass '02, Melissa (Edwards) Hogarty ’03, Gisela Hornberger ’03, Amy Weiss ’03, Steven Bailey ’08, Matthew Gizzi ’09, and David Reed ’09.
